Daniel F. Goodman, M.D. is a Corneal and Refractive Surgery – LASIK specialist. He is an Associate Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine and at California Pacific Medical Center. He was Medical Director at the Stanford Laser Vision Correction Center (San Francisco) and was recently named to the “Best Doctors in the Bay Area” (San Francisco Focus Magazine), “Best Doctors in America: Pacific Region” and “Best Doctors in America” from the prestigious Woodward-White publication (an award bestowed by his peers).
Dr. Goodman received his undergraduate degree (with the highest distinction, Phi Beta Kappa) from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and his Medical Degree (with the highest distinction, Alpha Omega Alpha) from the University of Michigan Medical School. He then completed his Residency in Ophthalmology at the University of California, San Francisco, and a Cornea and External Disease Fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore (Heed Fellowship). Dr. Goodman was Co-Director of the Corneal Surgical Service at UCSF before establishing his private practice in downtown San Francisco. He specializes in Refractive Surgery including Laser Vision Correction, Cornea and External Diseases of the eye, Corneal Transplantation, and complicated Cataract and Lens Implants. Dr. Goodman has lectured nationally, conducted research, and published peer-reviewed articles in his areas of specialty. He has helped train many other Ophthalmologists in the principles and techniques of Ophthalmic Surgery, including Refractive Surgery and Laser Vision Correction. In his private practice, Dr. Goodman personally performs all surgical procedures. Dr. Goodman is the Team Ophthalmologist for the San Francisco Giants baseball team, and also is the Ophthalmologist for the San Francisco Opera. Dr. Goodman performed LASIK on then starting quarterback for the San Francisco 49er’s football team Jeff Garcia, several San Francisco Giants players, such as Robb Nen, Rich Aurilia, and Scott Eyre, as well as many other entertainment personalities and leaders of the business community.
Dr. Goodman is a member of numerous societies, including the California Max Fine Cornea Society, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, the International Society of Refractive Surgeons, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Board of Ophthalmology, the San Francisco Medical Society, the California Medical Association, the American Medical Association, and the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Goodman is a volunteer ophthalmologist for the San Francisco Free Clinic and at San Francisco General Hospital. Dr. Goodman has been a state and national speed-skating champion, and in recent years has set a national record for the 300-meter speed-skate sprint (age 35 and over).
